Mindi and the Band
Admittedly, I am a bit “old school” when it comes to “nightclubs”, but during my career I have worked in the very best that South Florida has ever had to offer. I understand the concept of entertaining your clientele with something more than just booze and employee muscles and / or cleavages. Not to say that Jazziz Bistro & Live Music isn’t hip…they are! What they do best however, is entertain…completely!
Niteclubreviews.com© visited Jazziz Bistro on Friday the 17th of August for the second, Mindi Abair and her band live gig. The tables were packed for this much-anticipated national act. Diners were enjoying culinary treats from Jazziz’s extensive and eclectic menu as Mindi and the band took the stage. From the first note that unit hit, to the very last, I knew we were listening to a top act in its prime. The clinking of glasses and dishes in the room combined with the energy level and pure musical ability of the band was a joy to my “old school” senses. I was getting chills!
Before taking a seat in the main dining area to watch a show, make sure you stop at the curvy bar in the front of the restaurant / club. While you are there, ask any of the over-qualified bartenders to make you the Jazziz Bistro signature (as far as I am concerned) drink…the Expresso Martini. This baby packs flavor and a kick…kind of wakes you up and gets you in the mood for the exciting show you are there to see. In our case it was award winning jazz saxophonist Mindi Abair.
If you don’t know who Mindi Abair is…I will tell you…but if you don’t know about Jazziz Bistro & Live Music…you are crazy! This is South Florida’s premier “supper club”…the Septembers of a new So Flo generation (Septembers was a hot live music and dining destination in Ft. Lauderdale for many years in the late 80s through the 90s). This is the greatest “first date” place around, and everything about Jazziz Bistro & Live Music says sophistication. It is cool…just like jazz itself.

A picture is worth a thousand words...this woman rocks!
Mindi Abair was named The Best New Artist at the 2003 National Smooth Jazz Awards, and the hits have been coming for Mindi ever since. Not only is Mindi one of the slickest saxophonists you will ever hear, but she has a sweet melodic voice as well. I really enjoyed the show at Jazziz Bistro. The sound engineer at Jazziz has a true ear, as I could hear the nuance of every instrument at all times. What a relief! Too often the sound mix for a live music show is atrocious. Thankfully, you will not experience that situation at Jazziz. Ask any musician how important the live music sound mix is, and you will come to understand, if you already do not, that is a key element in all live shows. One of my best friends is a sound engineer, and musicians would fall all over this guy thanking him for saving the show…and he is one of the best. He has all the work he can handle right now in the Akron, Ohio area. Shout out to my boy Danny in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio! What’s good Broski?
The menu at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music is first class all the way. My other Internet Magazine, www.dinnerreviews.com has reviewed Jazziz, and CLICK HERE to read that previous story located in our Archives Section. If it lobster, steak, seafood or fowl, the Jazziz menu has something from each category…and more! Service is prompt and efficient, but sometimes the waiters have a hard time taking orders over the loud music…so be prepared. It is worth the slight inconvenience.
There is an interesting array of choices on the Jazziz Bistro dinner menu, including appetizers of Stir Fried Edamame, Shanghai Pork Dumplings and Crab Fried Rice to name a few. Go for the Surf & Turf! Discover Executive the phenomenal cuisine that Chef Jay Prisco, and Chefs de Cuisine Danny Mithen and Amy Mothe are producing at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music. You will be pleased with just how complete the entertainment experience really is at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music. Not to mention that you are in the middle of a complex aptly called “Paradise”. Gambling and more nightlife are all just a few steps away. Acoustic Alchemy is the next BIG show coming to Jazziz Bistro & Live Music on Oct 25th and 26th, 2007 . They played here last year, and this is yet another awesome live show Niteclubreviews.com recommends at Jazziz...where you always get the complete entertainment experience!
So what are you waiting for…get over to Paradise outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and enjoy dinner and a show at Jazziz Bistro & Live Music! Ask for Melanie Santos to book private functions, and make sure everyone knows that Niteclubreviews.com© sent you.
